Education is the cornerstone for the personal, social and economic development of all young people as they grow into adulthood and take their rightful place in society. It is the basis upon which we can create a fairer and more equal society which is enriched by the skills, talents and participation of all of its members.
However, studies have shown that the academic achievement of black children is amongst the highest when they first start school, yet they leave our schools with fewer educational qualifications and lower grades than other groups. Based upon their previous successes providing empowerment programmes for Black boys, the National Black Boys Can Association in partnership with Education On Limited has taken the step to develop this new and innovative web site in order to provide a wealth of resources and materials both for the pupils and for those engaged in their education and upbringing. It will also provide an opportunity for " joined up " thinking and action between the Pupils, their Parents, the Community and the Educationalists.
I believe that this is an exciting and positive approach in providing a resource which will be educational, informative, and enjoyable for children, enabling them to raise their sense of worth and belonging to the communities of which they are part, whilst raising their academic achievements to their full potential.
